It turned out to be a very low key weekend due to the weather, we basically stayed in. Some friends were due to come round on Sunday but we postponed this as they couldn’t travel, meaning that we had quite a lot of food prepared that we had to eat ourselves. It’s a really hard life. On Sunday I also learned that the Riverford Field Kitchen recipe for Beetroot Rostis is pretty good although - middle class problems alert - I couldn’t source any horseradish root.

After a very busy end to last week, I was down with the lurgy over the weekend. Nothing serious but I did very little.

People I know are moving to BlueSky. Unless Mastodon goes really quiet I probably won’t be doing that, as I expect it to have a similar end to Twitter and is being financed by some weirdo blockchain thing. Now, it might be good over a reasonable time period before that happens, but I think I’ll just plod on where I am on Mastodon, which won’t suffer the same fate. If I ever won the EuroMillions or something, I’d fund Mastodon development, and if you have that sort of money and are reading this, please do that with no strings attached. The world needs a social media ecosystem that doesn’t operate for the benefit of billionaire owners. Message ends.

Over the weekend I went running, watched John Wick 4 (spoiler alert: thankfully there won’t be a JW5 as I don’t think I have the stomach for any more), visited an ink and illustration fayre in Topsham, ate too much parkin, and grappled with issues around the sale of my Dad’s house.

4th November is two anniversaries for me: it’s the anniversary of my Dad passing away in 2023, and also the anniversay of me and my partner, back in 2000.

I’m still making tweaks to try and make these weeknotes more readable and also getting used to Hugo.
